A Wing and a Prayer as Webtel.Mobi Makes Marketing History
Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 10:58 Last week saw Yves Rossy don his bird suit in a bid to be the first man ever to cross the Atlantic Ocean on a jet wing. Hugely ambitious, the Intercontinental Challenge was the brainchild of Webtel.mobi, a specialist mobile provider that masterminded the event in order to physically illustrate the innovative and new ways that the Webtel.mobi service connects people all over the world. Whilst the flight ended in the cold waters of the Atlantic, the attempt captured the imagination of the world's media and dominated news and entertainment channels around the globe.
Having built a following on Twitter for the event, and curated the content in the run-up to and during the Challenge, everyone at Unruly was really pleased when our live Twitter stream was picked up by Sky News, who used it to report on the flight in the crucial moments when the jet wing disappeared from sight...

Capitalising on the media interest around the attempted flight, Webtel.mobi are launching a viral competition this week, where entrants will use footage and images from the flight to create viral videos and images. Shouldn't be too hard as the footage is pretty special.
