There are still 12 days until the Super Bowl, but already Taco Bell has raced into an early lead.
There is a long way to go yet, but the Mexican fast food chain’s teaser ad, Grandpa, is already setting the pace in our new 2013 Super Bowl Ads Chart.
The teaser ad - which features a hell-raising grandad racing around a deserted football stadium on his turbo-charged scooter, tearing up the turf and ramming into training equipment - was only released on January 17, but has already attracted almost 40,000 shares, putting it firmly at the top of the chart. Taco Bell's main spot is not due to be released until the week of the Super Bowl.
Also attracting a lot of pre-game buzz is the clear front-runner in Doritos' annual Crash The Super Bowl competition, Goat For Sale. The snack brand launched the five finalists on January 4, but with Goat already attracting over eight times more shares than its closest rival, Road Chip, it looks like a dead cert to bag one of the two spots on offer on Super Sunday.
Bubbling away nicely in third spot on our chart is SodaStream's The SodaStream Effect. Released on January 8, it has so far attracted just over 15,500 social shares.
You can take a look at the top three below, or check out the full chart here. Obviously, it's early days, and we are expecting to see a bunch of new teasers and game day ads being released over the next fortnight, so make sure you keep checking the chart to see who is leading the chase to be a Super Bowl 'winner'.
In the meantime, brands looking to turn their Super Bowl campaigns into social video sensations should check out our infographic and the Super Bowl Social Video Playbook.
